Dr. Philippe Gorny’s Career

His surgical practice at that time focused primarily on coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve replacement or repair, heart transplants, and peripheral arterial surgery.

He also served as a research assistant in the laboratory of Professor Alain Carpentier, the pioneer of implantable biological valves (Lasker Award) and the artificial heart developed by Carmat.

A Pioneer in Phlebology Surgery in France

In the field of venous surgery, he has been a pioneer in France since the early 1990s in performing phlebology surgery on an outpatient basis (without hospitalization), under local anesthesia or light sedation, advocating the use of minimally invasive techniques. He authored the first publications on this topic and, in 2001, reported the first cases in France using endovenous laser therapy (see pioneering venous references).

Dr. Philippe Gorny has also been a pioneer in cosmetic venous surgery outside the lower limbs, enabling the removal of unsightly swollen veins from the hands, face, and other areas - a technique he has been performing for over 25 years and for which he has developed specialized instruments.
After more than 35 years of intensive practice in venous surgery, he has gained extensive experience, both in the cosmetic treatment of varicose veins and in complex revision surgeries related to this condition.
